EMBRACE is a randomized controlled trial whose primary objective is to determine the diagnostic yield of a 30-day cardiac event monitor compared to a repeat 24-hour Holter monitor for detecting atrial fibrillation in patients. We worked closely with the scientist who led the trial to develop a decision analytic model using data from the clinical trial and the published literature to assess the cost-effectiveness of different cardiac monitoring strategies, as compared with usual care.
