Picturing Foster Care

Picturing Foster Care: A photo voice evaluation of three different fostering models and their implications for perinatal care provision

This project uses photo voice methodology to study experiences of child custody loss and its implications for perinatal health care delivery from the perspectives of three groups of stakeholders – young parents with experiences of homelessness, child welfare workers, and health care professionals  – in order to identify barriers to perinatal health care. Understanding these perspectives will be essential to designing improvements in practice and policy. The advent of two new programs offering alternative fostering arrangements will allow us to compare the experiences of stakeholders within these programs with those participating in an ongoing program of ‘usual’ foster care.
