We were asked by the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health to apply our Brokered Dialogue method to study controversies surrounding drug funding decisions from the perspectives of various stakeholders. They were also looking for ways to engage the public on this topic. Brokered Dialogue is designed to study and address controversial health and social issues which made this an ideal context for piloting our new method. We used a controversial federal recommendation not to fund insulin glargine as a case study. This resulted in a film entitled ‘Venus & Mars’ which is viewable at: www.vimeo.com/brokereddialogue.
